The Sr.
Corporate Paralegal I works under the umbrella of the Chief Legal, Privacy and Compliance Officer through the Legal Operations Manager.
This role provides assistance to corporate attorneys, other legal department staff, and various business managers throughout the company.
Prepares and coordinates documentation for general legal matters, including, but not limited to, drafting transactional documents, contract management, corporate compliance, and litigation.
Assists attorney(s) with the drafting and editing of legal documentation.
Assists with determining the necessity and approach to contracts, ensuring protection of the company's proprietary technology, and regulatory compliance.
Provides litigation support, such as legal holds, calendaring, and due date reminders.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT: Manage the Company’s administration of matters and contracts Uses care and independent judgment handling a wide variety of contractual matters, with minimal supervision, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on non-disclosure, consulting, and vendor agreements.
Coordinates with global cross-functional teams including IT, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations and HR on legal requests and contract process and negotiation.
Implements and oversees internal controls for appropriate approvals of new contractual commitments; identify and recommend process improvements.
Manages new and existing contracts in the contract management system.
Monitors contract covenants, expirations and renewals and work closely with contract business owners.
Trains relevant staff on administration of policies and procedures.
Responds to management and staff inquiries related to administration of contracts.
Legal Department Administration Researches, recommends, and assists with developing and improving processes, playbooks, knowledge management, and automation across the Legal team.
Ensures documentation is electronically stored in a uniform and specified format.
Works within the legal matter management database, including creating profiles and summaries and managing existing matters, as needed.
Works independently to ensure compliance with applicable legal and corporate policies.
Performs legal research on an as needed basis and prepare memorandums as requested.
Supports internal control compliance activities, including responding to inquiries from independent auditors, as needed.
Assists attorney(s) with litigation and dispute matters, such as managing service of process, drafting, sending and managing legal holds, event calendaring and reminders.
Applies understanding of the business and how own area integrates with others to achieve departmental objectives.
General Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
EXTRA AWESOME: Paralegal certificate required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
CA Notary Public certification, preferred.
10+ years of experience as a paralegal.
A combination of law firm and in-house legal department experience, preferred.
Able to synthesize complex or diverse information, including researching, collecting, compiling, and analyzing data.
Able to build rapport as well as provide feedback in constructive relationships.
Demonstrated success making good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment.
Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to a range of audiences in a clear and concise manner.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; able to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
Able to navigate change and risk, including ability to find paths forward despite ambiguities or competing priorities.
Demonstrated skill and flexibility to function in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Skilled project leader with demonstrated success in scoping tasks, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and anticipating project barriers.
Strong working knowledge of common commercial agreements, terms and conditions, administrative and clerical processes, computers, and software commonly used within a corporate legal environment.
Understanding of corporate compliance programs, including familiarity with Anti-Kickback, and/or other appropriate regulations related to the interaction with healthcare providers.
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
Experience with Matter Management software such as Legal Tracker and Contract Lifecycle Management software such as Lexion preferred, but not required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The starting base pay range for this position is $90,000 -$125,000 annually.
Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market.
In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts.
You’ll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (starting in year 1) and have access to a 401k plan with company match.
