The General Counsel’s Office is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual to fill a part-time Law Clerk position.
The selected individual may work for up to twenty hours weekly during the school year and during school breaks at the option of the work unit.
Total scheduled yearly hours will not exceed 1,250 hours.
The duration of the opportunity at a minimum is three months and may be extended up to one year.
Duties include but are not limited to para-professional level work specific to the department's needs.
Law Clerks are required to complete work semi-independently, exercise initiative, and apply education, skills and systematically approach assignments.
Typical assignments may include:
1.
Conducting legal research and drafting legal documents including pleadings, legal memoranda, policies, and codes.
2.
Researching legal issues and drafting memoranda of law based on legal research; preparing discovery responses and documents.
3.
Assisting with responses to public records requests; supporting the functioning of the airport law office; developing relationships with Airport Authority staff; completing projects or acting as part of a project team; and
4.
Developing an understanding of and practical experience in the legal representation of a government entity and a public commercial airport.
Competencies:
1.
Identifies, documents, maintains records, prepares reports, reads and interprets business correspondence, reports and/or policies.
2.
Proficiently exchange information through various avenues including verbal, digital, and written; facilitation and persuasion; presents ideas in a clear and effective manner.

Requirements
Students must be in a graduate program leading to a Juris Doctor (JD), and currently enrolled in an accredited law school.
