Pricing and Access & Government Affairs Legal Business Partner POSITION OVERVIEW: Legal Business Partner for the U.
S.
Commercial Managed Markets organization and US Government Affairs team is responsible for advising and collaborating on a broad range of healthcare regulatory activities.
This role reports to the U.
S.
Legal Business Partner.
• Advises various functions within Managed Markets on commercial contracts, patient support issues, trade relations, government pricing.
• Provides counsel to State Government Affairs, US Policy team, US Federal team and the Frontlines of Communities in the United States (“FOCUS”) Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Serve as the primary point of contact for key and relevant business counterparts on legal matters, establishing a connection between legal expertise and business goals and align strategies with business objectives • Proactively and reactively provide strategic legal advice tailored to business needs on a wide range of legal problems, tailored to the unique needs of the business • Align the strategies and resources of the Legal department with business objectives, fostering collaboration and support across functions • Advise on ways of working between Medical and Commercial, especially with the US PAQ Medical Value Evidence Liaisons • Manage relationships with external counsel, ensuring effective collaboration, cost efficiency, and quality legal services • Stay abreast of relevant legal developments and industry trends, identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance department approach • Work in partnership with the Office of Ethics and Compliance and other Legal teams to help ensure the organization operates within legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks • Assist in supporting company product launch initiatives and Managed Markets Marketing teams’ efforts to support Managed Markets account managers and other field teams • Counsel therapeutic area business units and Managed Markets patient support and trade teams in collaboration with compliance, Gilead’s therapeutic area attorneys, and the Corporate Legal team on pricing, access, patient support, and projects that potentially implicate health care regulatory issues • Analyze and advise on patient assistance programs, pricing, coverage and reimbursement strategies and proposals, including pricing models, discount programs, and market research • Support negotiation of contracts with payers, including managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, distributors, group purchasing organizations and government agencies • Manage relationships with external counsel, ensuring effective collaboration, cost efficiency, and quality legal services • Appropriately manage workload, demonstrate an ability to prioritize effectively, and deliver results within agreed timelines • Advance a positive spirit of partnership, creativity, and collaboration with internal clients and legal colleagues across multiple legal functions including the brand support team, Privacy, Regulatory, Corporate Legal, Compliance, and others • Lead, inspire, and develop the team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to enhance the team’s capabilities and effectiveness.

Minimum Education & Experience • 14 years of experience with a JD.
• A Juris Doctorate or fully qualified legal credentials in one or more geographies of operations.
Fully admitted to practice law in the respective country or jurisdiction.
• Extensive professional experience in-house in biotech, pharmaceuticals or other highly regulated industries or law firm advising in all relevant areas of practice for these industries.
Ideally the majority of the years of career spent in-house.
• Management experience and ability to mentor and supervise attorneys and staff.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Knowledge & Other Requirements • Invest time and effort in building strong relationships with business stakeholders.

This will enable the legal and compliance team to provide tailored and practical advice.
• Respond promptly to inquiries, requests, or concerns raised by business stakeholders.
Demonstrate a sense of urgency in addressing their needs and provide timely feedback.
• Foster open and transparent communication channels with business stakeholders.
Clearly communicate requirements, explain the rationale behind decisions, and provide regular updates on relevant changes or developments.
• Continuously evaluate and improve internal processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in supporting the business in achieving company goals.
Minimize unnecessary bureaucracy and simplify workflows to facilitate smooth interactions.
• Embrace a culture of continuous improvement.
Actively seek feedback from business stakeholders and strive to enhance the quality and effectiveness of support provided.
The salary range for this position is: $260,780.
00 - $337,480.

Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
