Hi Gang!! Looking to buy Decollate snails; Rumina decollata.
Paying $5/100 Need 600 at first This is a great way for your kids to make some extra Christmas money, Decolate snails come out like earthworms after a good rain like we just had, these are what we call good snails in that they tend to not climb plants and eat their leaves unlike European Brown snails (pests), they also eat baby brown snails and their eggs reducing these imported pests.
I use them in agriculture in areas where brown snail populations are very high and I want to reduce those pests through predation, the decollate snail also tends to eat fallen fruit, weeds on the ground and organic debris making them sort of like an earthworm in in their biological niche.
You can find Decollate snails in and around ground covers like ice plants whether that's a Disneyland ice plant a red apple ice plant or one of the many other ice plants they tend to stay underneath and near the wet spots at the bottom part of the bank.
They look like a little elongated turbine snail that's tapered.
look them up online to get a good picture of them.
Wikipedia has an article.
Supervise your children and have them go pick these snails out of your garden and I will pay you $5 for every 100 that you pick ~or five cents a piece I would like to buy upwards of $30 worth or 600 of them.
After the moisture goes away these snails will go into hiding and burrow into the soil and you won't see them again for a while so now is a very good time to go look while the surface moisture is very moist.
I'm looking for snails in the north county I know they are present in San Diego into the South County as far as the border but I'm really only willing to travel in North County cities especially Vista California where a company that used to sell these nails originated them for agriculture by a company called "Mary's good snails.
" Again this is a great family project and a way for your kids to make a little bit of money and I have a paying customer that's ready to pay me for them so if you can come find them I'll come pay you for them thank you very much for reading my ad and good luck hunting! Also look in irrigation boxes!! But be very carefull of spiders, I usually take a branch to collect the webs before searching for snails.
Extra careful around black or brown widows and brown recluse! Good hunting! Texts are best, call are OK.
Hardly ever check emails, No Codes, No Drama!
