65% Market Increase) Senior Real Property Agents perform specialized real property functions which include: various phases of appraisal, acquisition, relocation assistance, and property management; directing and training lower level staff; preparing appraisals of properties to be acquired for public purposes; directing negotiations for the sale and/or lease of County property; procuring and negotiating development agreements; assisting in preparing and administering budgets for revenue-generating activities; negotiating, implementing, and administering contracts for revenue-generating services and related work as required.
Senior Real Property Agent is the lead/supervisory level in the Real Property Agent job class series.
The current vacancies in DGS will fill multiple positions in the Asset Management Division, Real Estate Services Section (RES).
RES is responsible for the acquisition, leasing, management, valuation (appraisal), office surveying/mapping, and sale or redevelopment of County property.
The Division also maintains records on County land ownership and provides mapping and deed information to a variety of County departments and agencies.
This eligibility list for Senior Real Property Agent can be used to fill current vacancies in the County's Department of General Services (DGS) and the Department of Public Works (DPW).
This list may also be used to fill future vacancies County-wide.
IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate for the DGS vacancy will possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in business administration, real estate or urban planning.
The ideal candidate will also have at least four years of full-time real estate property experience in acquisition, real estate development, appraisal/valuation and/or property management and possesses strong writing and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

HIRING TIMELINE AND DATES The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below: Interviews, Job Offers and Background Process begin in March 2024.

Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or certified foreign equivalency in real estate, business, economics, urban planning, or a closely related field; AND, Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in at least two of the following areas: real estate appraisal; acquisition; right-of-way; condemnation; property management; or commercial leasing, OR Two (2) years of experience as an Associate Real Property Agent with the County of San Diego.
Note: Additional experience in at least two (2) of the following areas: real estate appraisal, acquisition, right-of-way, condemnation, property management, or commercial leasing may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
