The Executive Director – Amenities will partner with senior leadership, internal teams, and external partners to create, sustain, scale, and measure the impact of a comprehensive, integrated, amenity strategy that is aligned with and supports ARE’s mission.
This role will oversee operations of current fitness centers and wellness services as well as collaborate & coordinate with other ARE amenity offerings (community, conferencing, retail, F&B, etc.
).
The individual will identify, develop, and lead a team of partners to expand the current offerings.
This individual will provide direction for the assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative programming that contributes to tenant retention, growth, and other key business goals.
The Executive Director – Amenities activities will be dedicated to creating Alexandria brand awareness, loyalty, membership, and passion for existing and prospective tenants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Fitness & Wellness Oversight Oversee all current fitness operations and wellness services.
Ensure quality control and budget compliance to the third-party operated facilities.
Define and communicate performance expectations to all partners.
Measure impact against ARE’s strategic plan and metrics including, but not limited to, participation, engagement, usage, & satisfaction.
Continue to build and oversee partners that offer measurable, differentiated, value added programs, services & resources aligned with tenant members’ needs.
Coordinate offerings and services amongst the Alexandria partners and operators.
Coordination and direction of data collection to optimize tenant satisfaction and utilization.
Research and expand alternative offerings that could be incorporated in the existing and future Alexandria facilities to enhance user experience.
Tenant & Community Engagement (all amenity offerings) Consult with the leadership & HR teams of ARE’s existing tenants, as well as, tenant prospects, in order to align ARE’s offerings with tenant needs around talent development, recruiting, retention, and other key organizational priorities.
Assess community members' needs and perspectives to improve programming for current tenants and prospects.
Work collaboratively with Asset Services, Design, Amenities, and other teams to conceptualize, define and oversee implementation and evaluation of innovative, impact-oriented offerings in current and developing spaces.
Help establish a seamless and coordinated regional amenity strategy and offering with usage and overall tenant satisfaction being critical.
Coordinating the fitness/wellness offerings with community, retail, conferencing, and food and beverage offerings.
Seamlessly integrate external operators in the same manner.
Expand the measurement system used to evaluate the impact of ARE’s Amenities and programming on tenant well-being, performance, engagement, experience, retention, and growth.
In partnership with branding, evolve ARE’s value proposition to address how the expanded approach to Amenities and programming addresses emerging business needs of tenants and prospects.
Develop and manage operational and programmatic budgets.
Remain attentive to legal and compliance considerations of all offerings Work internally with other regions to assess and evaluate programming & design.
Stay informed of existing best practices and emerging opportunities to offer innovative programs, services, and resources.
Maintain a strong presence and network throughout the life science community in the San Diego region.
Attend industry related events to grow the ARE brand and thought leadership.
Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field required Minimum 5 years of practical working experience in fitness/wellness center management or related managerial experience necessary.
Strong preference for experience in hospitality or service industry, in order to drive the ARE brand and tenant experience, engagement, and activation.
Strong knowledge of fitness/wellness center operating costs, income statements and general business principles.
Working knowledge of conferencing and food & beverage industry is preferable.
Candidates must possess a professional image with proven customer service skills.
Oral and written communications are critical and required with demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interact both internally with other Company members, and externally with senior management, prospective tenants, vendors, consultants, and other team members.
Facilitate and maintain vendor relationships, managing contracts and negotiating skills required.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of MINDBODY software, highly preferred.
Ability to work overtime, as needed.
Weekends and nights may be required.
Passion for the fitness/wellness industry, and overall hospitality and service experience.
The expected base salary range for this position is $115,000 USD to $150,000 USD annually.
