Your Opportunity Stantec Government Services (GS) seeks a Document Production Specialist/Technical Editor to play an integral part in the development of technical documents for various environmental projects executed by Stantec GS in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
The ideal candidate is detail- oriented, a strong written and oral communicator, and has excellent word processing skills.
The responsibilities of the Document Production Specialist/Technical Editor include compiling the work of multiple technical authors into single technical documents.
The Document Production Specialist/Technical Editor will proofread, revise, edit, and format technical information with a focus on clarity, punctuation, and grammar.
The Document Production Specialist/Technical Editor will identify awkward phrasing and inconsistent language and provide minor rephrasing or light rewriting.
The Document Production Specialist/Technical Editor may also write their own materials, design graphics and layout, maintain websites, make documents 508-compliant, and develop web content.
Your Key Responsibilities Word processing of detailed technical documents including formatting, creating Tables of Contents, figure insertion, pagination, formatting of bibliographies, conducting reference and acronym checks, preparing photologs, formatting tables and appendices, etc.
Reviewing written technical documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, content, and style and making any necessary corrections to technical documents.
Giving feedback and advice to technical writers on text formatting, organization, and flow.
Ensuring that content is formatted to Stantec quality standards and standards required by Stantec’s customers (particularly those of the Department of Defense).
Participating on teams to develop processes and timelines to obtain and process technical content in adherence to project goals.
Creating templates for technical authors which are easy to utilize and adapt.
Conducting quality assurance on printed documents, including brochures, advertisements, marketing proposals, etc.
Adherence to Stantec branding requirements.
Conforming to Stantec security protocols as required by the Department of Defense.
Creating Administrative Records for projects.
Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Excellent skills and knowledge in the following computer programs: MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Familiarity with working in a SharePoint or web-based word processing environment.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Strong editing, proofreading, and page composition skills.
Ability to adhere to deadlines, multi-task, and handle pressure.
Soft skills are additional vital requirements for the technical editor.
The critical soft skills required are a detail-oriented mindset, critical thinking, communication skills, teamwork, and proactivity.
Valid driver's license with good driving record Position requires a pre-employment Drug screen Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Experience as a Document Production Specialist/Technical Editor working with style guides (Chicago Manual of Style, Associated Press, etc.
).

19 Per Hour - $43.
80 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI $30.
19 Per Hour - $46.
97 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
