*ETS County Associate Counselor*
(Academic Counselor)
$20-$23/per hour
*Summary:* Under direct supervision of the Program Director and direction from the Executive Director, the Associate Counselor will assist in the operations of the ETS County program through the development, implementation, and execution of program services, ensuring compliance with State and Federal Regulations and TRiO guidance and meeting the program grant goals and objectives.
Vision: Support program initiatives and provide services to disadvantaged, low-income, or first-generation students to prepare for postsecondary education.
*Responsibilities:* *Provide in-person services at target schools, including recruitment of new participants, serving currently enrolled participants, providing 2 or more services to all participants, and positive communication with school personnel to provide counseling and advising services to a designated caseload of students at target schools.
* ▪Designated Caseload= Minimum annual requirement: 375-425 participants with 2 or mores ervices; 2/3 low income and first generation.
▪Minimum monthly requirement during school year (September- June): 37-43 participants with 2 or more services; 2/3 low income and first generation.
*Coordinate, develop, and implement curriculum and information sessions related to counseling and advising services; including but not limited to: academic support in completing current classes, study skills, economic and financial literacy, graduation completion requirements, course selection, college enrollment, financial aid information, and college admission test preparation.
* *In collaboration with the Program Director, design, implement, and administer practices and procedures to ensure the program meets all program requirements and initiatives while maintaining compliance with Wahupa’s policies/procedures, State and Federal regulations, FERPA, and TRiO guidelines.
* *Foster and promote parent/guardian involvement in program activities; Facilitate training and communication to parents regarding college and career readiness topics, including large and small-group presentations, workshops, and promotional and informational materials.
* *Build and ensure a safe, positive, and creative learning environment for all students and staff while maintaining open communication with Program Director and all other Wahupa personnel; Maintain positive relationships with all Wahupa personnel and external stakeholders and community members.
* *Ensure and maintain documentation and files to meet the 5 program grant objectives by collecting data and implementing efficient and effective storage practices under the direction of the Program Director and as required by the US Dept.
of Education.
* ▪Objective 1: 98% Of Non-Senior Participants Served Each Project Year Will Complete the Current Academic Year and Continue in School for The Next Academic Year, At the Next Grade Level.
▪Objective 2: 84% Of Seniors Served During the Project Year Will Graduate During the Project Year with A Regular Secondary School Diploma Within the Standard Number of Years.
▪Objective 3: 42% of Seniors Served During the Project Year will complete a Rigorous School Program of Study and Will Graduate During the Project Year with a Regular Secondary School Diploma within the Standard Number of Years.
▪Objective 4: 69% of Participants, Who Have Graduated with A Regular Secondary School Diploma During the Project Year, Will Enroll in An Institution of Higher Education by The Fall Semester Immediately Following High School Graduation or Will Have Received Notification, By the Fall Semester Immediately Following High School, From an Institution of Higher Education, Of Acceptance but Deferred Enrollment Until Next Academic Semester (E.

Spring Semester).

*Conceptualize and design new programming to enhance the academic success of the participants, assist in the development and implementation of goals, operating procedures, and outcome assessments for the program.
* *Create and contribute to forms and materials, as needed (i.
e.
website, newsletters, brochures, participant application packets, forms, etc.
).
* *Support the Program Director in meeting grant reporting requirements; including but not limited to the Annual Performance Report (APR), applications, service logs, vouchers, and any other tasks necessary for the evaluation and operation of the program.
* *This position may be responsible for additional duties as necessary to meet and complete grant objectives, which may include: an additional caseload, delegating duties to other staff within the grant, scheduling and attending meetings outside of regular work hours, and working collectively with others to ensure all program needs are met.
* *Ability to:* *Encourage and motivate participants to take advantage of project services and other services directed to low-income, first-generation students and/or at-risk participants by being in-person at the target schools.
* *Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet timelines and meet bi-weekly goals.
* *Apply laws, regulations, and principles in reaching a decision and accept direction from the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and/or Program Director; Follow the Standard Operating Procedures(SOP).
* *Follow instructions and communicate professionally, both orally and in writing.
* *Work independently with minimal direction; Ensure confidentiality when necessary.
* *Establish and maintain positive working relationships and work cooperatively with staff, parents, students, community members, officers, and others.
* *Effectively facilitates one-one one and presentation advising sessions.
* *Manages time & calendar to ensure accessibility to students.
* *Maintains accurate records.
* *Correctly submits student-related advising notes or forms for all student contacts.
* *Responds to all student queries.
* *Completes caseload outreach, as directed.
* *Finds and uses advising-related information, reports, and data.
* *Uses advising technology to manage advising practice, as directed.
* *Demonstrates knowledge of best practices related to advising.
* *Identifies resources related to career development.
* *Participates in a team setting and collaboratively works with all members of organization, schools, and community groups.

* *Qualifications* *Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, higher education administration, or an appropriate field related to project objectives.
* *Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in project management, work flow coordination, and reporting of TRIO Projects.
* *Three or more (3+) years of professional experience working with low income and potential first-generation college students (grades 9-12), preferably with TRIO or similar programs.
* *Ability to relate to parents and students of low-income and diverse cultural backgrounds.
* *Ability to work positively and cooperatively with Wahupa staff and school personnel to build and maintain partnerships.
* *Knowledge of financial aid systems and forms, college acceptance procedures, and college readiness, persistence, and recruitment/retention strategies.
* *Experience in overcoming the disadvantages of circumstances like those of the population of the target area is preferred.
* *Proficient in Office 365, Excel, quantitative databases, and PowerPoint.
* *Able to work occasional evenings and weekends to support program initiatives and services, including overnights, field trips, and conferences.
* *Reliable transportation to perform duties; which includes a cleared driving record for Wahupa van and a car to drive to target schools.
