This position can be located in either La Jolla, CA; Spring House, PA; or Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities: Supports key programmatic elements across internal J&J vivarium in accordance with global harmonized standards, assuring that the care and welfare of laboratory animals is provided in accordance with internal and external standards & regulations.
Oversight of key global vivarium operations and management activities, systems, and processes, which may include colony management, resource management solution, space and footprint optimization and allocation.
Strategic execution of global staffing models to ensure effective staffing solutions, including managing effective client/ provider relationships.
Internal sourcing (staffing and animal procurement) governance and procurement lead, responsible for key performance indicators, contracting execution and updates, vendor relationships, spend monitoring, timely and accurate reconciliation of invoicing.
End-to-end business processes and oversight associated with the acquisition, management and close out of capital assets.
Establish operational strategies and change management approaches.
Support operational excellence by collecting metrics, operational, vendor trends and procurement trends supporting the interpretation, refinement and implementation of operational best practices.
Conducts business process reviews with a focus on continuous improvement, efficiencies, and global harmonization and lean or agile principles.
Participates on various local and global committees to represent the department, or the company, to internal and external partners.
Promotes a Culture of Care and serve as a visible and effective champion for the 3Rs.
Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in management, project management, animal sciences, or related subject areas Experience and Skills: Required: Minimum of five (5) years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology in vivo sciences or related experience in drug development Minimum of three (3) years of advanced working knowledge of applicable USDA, FDA, GLPs, GMPs, applicable animal welfare guidelines, and AAALAC requirements Major biotech/pharma industry experience Extensive experience of animal care and welfare programs, vivarium operations and facility and program management Pro-active, passionate, and collaborative individual with a flexible attitude who can translate legal, operational, and scientific requirements into practical language in forms to be used by the organization Good communicator to make the needs of additional requirements understandable and get newly implemented procedures accepted Strong at collaborating with other functions and groups, and with internal and external partners - building strong and positive relationships and promoting results achieved through partnership Works effectively with multidisciplinary and matrix teams, drive performance by managing energy and taking ownership for outcomes Self-motivated and organizationally adaptable, innovative and thrives in fast-paced, high complexity interdisciplinary environment Must be able to work with external regulatory agencies and accreditation groups Prioritizes and delivers high quality, works with day-to-day autonomy with minimal direction, and able demonstrates the capacity to expand areas of expertise and learn new skills to meet changing needs Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Ability to travel as needed Availability for some “off-core business hours” meeting participation and work Ability to complete all annual training and continued education requirements and perform all work per appropriate safety standards Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment required to perform work tasks Consent to applicable vaccinations for entry and work within specific laboratory and vivarium spaces Performs other duties as assigned Preferred: Master’s degree or other advanced degrees (DVM, VMD, Ph.
D.
) in management, project management, animal sciences, or related subject areas Understanding of the overall process of drug discovery and development Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR) or equivalent/related certification Confirmed track-record in working with large complex, international teams The anticipated base pay range for this position is $135,000 to $232,300.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.
Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.
The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year.
Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
