Unifeye Vision Partners is currently hiring for a Surgery Referral Coordinator, San Diego, CA
SUMMARY
The Surgery Referral Coordinator is responsible for the authorizing of all surgical appointments, providing a positive first impression of the company and being knowledgeable in complex scheduling scenarios and insurance plans.
This includes meeting with patients as needed, answering calls, entering demographic information, communicating effectively with insurances, scheduling surgeries at multiple facilities, and providing authorization status to patients and the rest of the surgery scheduling team in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain and enter accurate patient demographics, including insurance information.
Coordinate referrals for surgery by obtaining approval from providers and insurance.
Communicate with patients about the status of their authorizations.
Upload approvals in the appropriate location.
Provide quotes for procedures not covered by insurance.
Complete and fax medical clearance requests to PCPs when indicated.
Receive and complete all tasks sent through the Electronic Health Records.
Keep close communication with surgeons and surgery scheduling team.
Maintain surgery authorization list.
Monitor voicemail on a regular basis to ensure patient’s needs are met in a timely manner.
Schedule surgeries across multiple ASC and hospital settings.
Communicate with clinic manager about schedule changes due to surgical block time.
This is an in-office position, remote work is not available.
Some travel between offices may be required.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school education with one-two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience with a high focus on customer service, insurance plans, and medical background.
Ophthalmology experience a plus.
