Preceptor

*Pay Rate: $90.
09*/hour *Schedule: *5 days a week (to train MHA/CNA)to 10 days a month to train (LVN/RN) M-F - 8 hours a day *Major Job Duties* * Looking to hire Preceptor to train the RN/LVN/CNA/MHAs to work with the Psychiatric patients.
* Responsible to provide the training to new hires of County and Temp.
* The training will include but not limited to New Employee Orientation, Cerner Functionality, CPI Refresher Basic and Restraint Application, etc.
* Trainer will be trained by the Client before start training the other candidates.
The relationship between the preceptor and the novice nurse involves the preceptor serving as a guide to help develop and transition the nurse to a professional clinical nurse role within SDCPH.
Nurses who function as a nursing preceptor must be able to demonstrate: * Clinical Expertise * Teaching ability; knowledge of adult learning principles * Experience in setting goals and priorities * Skill in interpersonal relationships * Ability to communicate effectively and solve problems Nurse Preceptors need to have the following strategies: * Developing a mutually trusting relationship by listening attentively, providing a safe environment, and being a role model of professional practice * Being supportive but realistic * Assisting in viewing realistically and accepting fallibility, in assuming full workload, in resolving conflicts, and finding solutions to problems * Promoting the development of critical thinking skills and teaching time management skills * Fostering clinical decision-making, such as recognizing patient deterioration * Linking education and actual clinical practice * Model excellent interpersonal skills and providing effective feedback to reinforce good performance * Correcting mistakes immediately * Providing summative evaluation of performance * Socializing novice nurses to the nursing role *Required Experience:* * At least two years’ experience in inpatient adult Psychiatric Nursing and has been working consistently in a locked acute care psychiatric facility for the one year.
* Nurse with a positive attitude, emotional intelligence, and a change champion.
* Nurse who is patient, caring and can evaluate performance and provide effective feedback.
* Nurse who is motivated and can guide in developing problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills * Nurse who can adopt the Mission, Vision and our Nursing Model of SDCPH and model and teach to it.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract Salary: $90.
