Engineering Technician (Navy Weapons Systems) Position Summary: As an Engineering Technician, you will support the U.
S.
Navy in the troubleshooting, repair and testing of the NATO Sea Sparrow Missile Systems (NSSMS), Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) and Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) under the cognizance of Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) by receiving daily work assignments from the SWRMC Branch Head .
You will be interfacing with U.
S.
Navy civilian engineers, program managers and logisticians as well as equipment manufacturers.
Additional duties may be assigned, including but not limited to logistics, material, and safety responsibilities as it relates to position.
Contract Specifications Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Provide appropriate assistance to the shipboard crews in the operation, inspection, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and maintenance of: NSSMS MK 57, NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System NSSMS Directors MK78 MK-15 CIWS Gun Systems MK-144 Rolling Air-Frame (RAM) Launchers Converse with all levels of shipboard crews along with the management personnel of SWRMC Familiarity and understanding of the Navy, shipboard and SWRMC safety and security requirements is required for all aspects of the job Strong focus on distance support/troubleshooting as well as on-site support for the various class ships Required Education, Skills, and Experience: High School Diploma or Trade/Industrial School Diploma (or GED Equivalent) and/or related ten (10) years military experience Eight (8) years of professional experience with NSSMS, CIWS and Sea RAM systems Must have the knowledge and skill set to operate, trouble shoot, repair and assess shipboard weapons systems to include: NSSMS MK 57, NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System NSSMS Directors MK78 MK-15 CIWS Gun Systems MK-144 Rolling Air-Frame (RAM) Launchers Familiarity with the operation and understanding of the Navy test equipment Familiarity with a personal computer and the Microsoft Office applications Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience: Navy Instructor Training Knowledge of engineering principles of a highly specialized level of theories, practices, and techniques to include but not limited to the following cross disciplines; acoustics, electronics, electrical, thermodynamics, piping systems and related interfacing fields in order to provide overall cross analysis from total system viewpoint Physical Demands & Expectations Must have or be able to attain an adult CPR/First Aid certification The position may require up to 10% travel Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, working aloft and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required Must be able to walk and climb stairs while carrying tools and various other utensils or manuals while on board the ships Ability to travel 10% of the time Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment This position description re present s a summary of the major components and requirements of the outlined job.
