Job Description Summary: The OT Senior Network Engineer will design, develop and commission the OT network infrastructure for renewable energy plants monitor and control (SCADA) systems.
Position can be based in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR.
Job Description: Position Responsibilities and Duties: Collaborate with the Project Managers and SCADA Engineers, as the Network Engineering subject management expert (SME) in the scoping, design and development of OT / SCADA Networks for utility scale renewable energy projects (e.
g.
, Photovoltaic, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Wind).
Define and implement system design standards and best practices that align with applicable industry standards and company objectives.
Plans, coordinates, and executes complex network infrastructure designs, changes, and upgrades.
Develop device IP address lists, Access Control Lists, Firewall Rules and Rule justifications, Switch configuration templates, commissioning test plans and checklists.
Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support.
Conduct project reviews to verify network device configurations are complete, align with scope of work, and cyber security policies adherence.
Review project closeout documentation including network commissioning documents, network architecture diagrams, as-built drawings, system manuals and training material to verify all contractual deliverables have been met.
Support and develop a centralized knowledge base and publish OT / SCADA Network technical support bulletins.
Provide project status reports to the SOLV Energy O&M Technology group project management team, and support risk mitigation measures as needed to maintain project goals and objectives.
Promote and adhere to a culture of NERC compliance and governance with respect to network configuration and commissioning standards, documentation, reporting, knowledge transfer and training.
Monitor the latest trends and best practices for industrial control system network technologies, security methods and recommend improvements for OT network system designs.
Promote continuous training and career development within the broader team.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent engineering degree – Preferred but not required.
6+ years' experience in network technology infrastructure, including engineering, support, design, implementation, and operations.
Experience configuring and maintaining networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, as well as supporting, deploying, and engineering IT/OT networks.
Experience in the Renewable Energy Industry working with industrial control system networking and communication protocols (OPC, DNP3, Modbus, etc).
At least two certifications in Cisco, Palo-Alto, CompTIA Network+ or other networking technologies desired.
Knowledge of applicable industry cyber security frameworks and compliance including NERC CIP and NIST.
Knowledge of WAN, LAN and VPN networks, including the relationship between network infrastructure and IP enabled devices.
Demonstrate mastery of TCP/IP switching and routing.
Extensive knowledge of Ethernet cabling, single mode, and multimode fiber optic design standards and applications.
Proficient knowledge of Authentication and Access Control technologies.
Proficient in the configuration and standup of VPN tunnels, VPN administration and connectivity support.
Strong knowledge of virtual and physical server architecture and networking.
Strong knowledge of OT / SCADA systems and their interaction within an OT infrastructure environment.
Such as Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and SCADA Platforms and historization highly desired.
Knowledge of the OSI model and applying it to systematic troubleshooting and problem resolution.
