Senior Electro-Optical Engineer
Gamma Scientific is a leader in developing advanced light measurement equipment for a broad range of applications including Augmented and Virtual Reality, Medical, Highway Safety, Aerospace, and others.
At present, we are actively seeking a Senior Electro-Optical Engineer responsible for design, development, and characterization of electro-optical modules and systems.
Applications include (but not limited to) LED based lighting and electro-optical imaging.
Ability to work effectively with internal cross functional teams and with our customers is vital to the role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Design and development of electro-optical solutions for lighting and imaging.
· Develop engineering documentation consistent with the product development process and support generation of application information including manuals, procedures, and datasheets.
· Serve as a Project or Technical Leader for specific projects as needed.
· Work collaboratively and professionally with other Gamma Scientific associates in cross functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
· Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion.
· Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects at a time.
· Work closely with customers and support translation of user needs to product requirements.
Travel domestically and internationally to interface with customers as needed.
· Stay abreast of the technical evolutions in the application spaces supported by Gamma Scientific.
· Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
· Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
· Strong technical background in electro-optical engineering.
· Significant experience with LED and other lighting solutions and with opto-electronic imaging solutions.
· Experience with analog circuit design and knowledge of circuit theory, ICs, micro-controllers, FPGAs, electro-optical sensors, firmware, and controls.
· Substantial experience in test, characterization, and measurement of electro-optical systems.
· Significant product development and product launch experience.
· Experience working with suppliers, OEMs, and Engineering service providers.
· Solid Project Management skills.
· Experience with optical design and modeling tools such as LightTools, ASAP, or Zemax is strongly preferred.
· Basic knowledge of AR and VR systems, spectroradiometery, photometry, and colorimetry is desired.
· General PC skills in Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
Education:
· A bachelor’s degree in electrical, Optical or equivalent is required (a graduate degree is strongly preferred).
