Principal Mechanical Engineer
Gamma Scientific is a leader in developing advanced light measurement equipment for broad range of applications including Augmented and Virtual Reality, Medical, Highway Safety, Aerospace, and others.
At present, we are actively seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer responsible for design and development of mechanical components, systems, and fixtures.
Ability to work effectively with other engineering teams, with cross functional teams, and with the leadership is vital to the role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Design and development of mechanical solutions associated with optical metrology.
· Develop engineering documentation consistent with the product development process and support generation of application information including manuals, procedures, and datasheets.
· Serve as a Project or Technical Leader for specific projects.
· Work collaboratively and professionally with other Gamma Scientific associates in cross functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
· Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion.
· Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects at a time.
· Work closely with customers and support translation of user needs to product requirements.
· Stay abreast of the technical evolutions in the application spaces supported by Gamma Scientific.
· Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
· Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 10 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience.
· Strong technical background in Mechanical Engineering discipline including design, detailed engineering analysis (structural, thermal, vibration using FEA, tolerance analysis, & FMEA), motion control, testing, and verification.
· Expertise in designing injection molded, machined, and sheet metal components.
· Substantial experience with design and modeling tools such as SolidWorks.
· Significant Product Development and Product Launch experience.
· Thorough understanding of ASME drafting standards including GD&T.
· Experience working with suppliers, OEMs, and Engineering service providers.
· Solid Project Management Skills.
· Basic knowledge in the fundamentals of spectroradiometer, photometry and colorimetry is desired.
Experience with light measurement test equipment, electronic laboratory equipment, or commercial display equipment is a plus.
· Prior experience with Opto-Mechanical design and basic knowledge of Optics is highly desired.
· General PC skills in Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
Education:
· A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
A Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
