Rockstar Games is currently seeking a highly talented Technical Artist working with our production tracking software, Shotgrid.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our game development and production teams, across all development disciplines, and help drive our production technology forward to support the development of various Rockstar Games projects.
This is a full-time permanent position based out of Rockstar's unique game development studio in Carlsbad, CA.
WHAT WE DO Help architect, build, and optimize data pipelines for production to track progress throughout our projects.
Provide fast, sustainable integration support for departments migrating into Shotgrid.
Collaborate and communicate with various other departments, working closely with the global Technical Art team.
Build applications to support dedicated views of data in Shotgrid.
Tackle day to day requests for improvements and bug fixes.
RESPONSIBILITIES Meet with stakeholders that are unfamiliar with Shotgrid and help plan the migration of their data and teams.
Handle UI/UX and data mockups for the integrations you will be building and supporting.
Design, build, improve and optimize pipelines used by internal Rockstar teams to streamline and support production.
Properly document new additions and modifications to processes for both developers and users.
Effectively communicate and perform updates to software to support teams across multiple time zones.
Review and provide feedback for submitted code.
Provide general Shotgrid maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS Python and/or C# knowledge is a prerequisite for the role.
3+ years of experience with writing tools and developing workflows for Shotgrid or similar production tracking software like fTrack.
3+ years of applicable professional experience as a Technical Artist/TD/Tools Programmer in the video games or film/VFX industry.
Experience developing with Python backend frameworks such as Flask, Django or FastAPI.
Web Development with Vue/React a bonus.
Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, and quickly fixing issues that arise from production.
Experience working with pre-existing proprietary or 3rd party automation systems/processes.
SKILLS Experience with setting up CI/CD systems on Github or Gitlab platforms.
Experience using Mongo/SQL or other non-relational/relational databases.
Experience with Docker/Containers and orchestration (preferably Kubernetes).
Strong communication, self-management, organizational, and planning skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work within a schedule and deliver to deadlines effectively.
PLUSES Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
Relevant video games development experience, preferably on an AAA game.
Experience writing APIs.
Knowledge of Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana stack (ELK).
Experience with workflow monitoring tools such as Apache Airflow.
Experience with automation services such as Jenkins.
Experience working with the Agile Scrum methodology.
Experience using Motionbuilder and/or Maya as a Technical Artist/TD.
Experience with FFMPEG Tool Suite or similar video/audio processing tools.
Experience with developing training for developers and users.
Experience working with gRPC and integrating it into existing pipelines.
Experience with message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Experience working with AWS & S3.
