*PATHFINDER PROGRAM DIRECTOR*
*JOB DESCRIPTION/POSTING*
Seeking a creative, energetic, organized leader to serve as the Director of the PathFinder Vocational Training Divisions for Beacons, Inc.
The Program Director serves directly under the supervision of the Executive Director and will be responsible for various program services including curriculum, instruction, assessment, will provide leadership to staff, program planning and implementation, materials acquisition, data review, program budget, and will also perform other duties connected to the program as assigned.
The PathFinder program is a division of Beacons that provides vocational training in areas such as Creative Design, Customer Service, Entrepreneurial Skills, and Office Skills.
*Position Summary:* Director will oversee the operations, development and management of the PathFinder program to help optimize the learning of individuals with mild/moderate learning disabilities and bridge gaps to employment.
Job Responsibilities Include: * Create an inspiring team environment with open communication * Responsible for management, supervision and training of staff * Instruct the team with regards to compliance with the approved program designs * Responsible for staff onboard training and continued coaching and professional development * Primary contact for SDRC * Create, update and develop program curriculum on a regular basis * Review and revise management systems at regular intervals * Make sure team/instructors are in compliance with progress monitoring and reporting responsibilities * Supervise and work with Lead Instructors to screen workshop candidates, manage workshop enrollment, provide job development for trainees and communicate with families and trainees * Program/workshop scheduling * Community representation, communication and outreach * Job development and placement for trainees in the division * Responsible for obtaining CIE incentive funding where applicable * Working with HR and Executive Director in planning and hiring new staff and department staff performance reviews * Regularly reports program data and results of the program under his/her/their supervision, including interpretation of these results and recommendations for the up and coming workshop sessions * Ensuring expenses are aligned with the program budget * Conducts meetings with staff under his/her/their immediate supervision * Prepares and compiles reports as requested * Maintains a professional example in appearance and behavior * Be able to work with diverse staff effectively and collaboratively * Management of e-billing (initiate monthly invoicing and follow up on outstanding billing issues) and purchase of service procurement and follow-up with the San Diego Regional Center.
* May serve as a lead instructor for a vocational workshop and/or as a substitute instructor as needed during workshops.
* Other administrative measures and tasks that support and benefit the division * Position will report to the Executive Director (or Board’s designee in absence of Exec Director).
*Position Requirements*: * Demonstrated success working with and teaching individuals with mild/moderate intellectual disabilities * Experience working with assistive technology to support those with different learning and communication styles * Experience leading instruction and developing curriculum for individuals with mild/moderate disabilities * Proficient with education-related devices, programs and tools (such as Google Suite, Kahoot, Zoom, and/or Canva, touch screen devices, accessibility features, and the like) * Experience collaboratively managing staff, such as the planning and running of staff meetings, completion of periodic employment reviews, and staff development and training.
* Familiarity with departmental or program budgeting or willingness to learn.
* Excellent communication skills and rapport with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families.
* Innovative “outside the box” thinking to help create tools or materials to help trainees learn and retain subject matter taught * Demonstrated creative problem solving and development of modifications and accommodations needed for the individual trainee to mitigate their challenges to learning and participation.
* Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, with an attention to detail and follow-through * Demonstrated communication and problem solving skills when working with families, clients, other organizations and/or their program services or financial departments * Successful completion of a LiveScan background check * Able to speak, read and write English * Reliable transportation to the Beacons office site to arrive promptly for daily workshop supervision and preparation * Ability and willingness to transport workshop participants for community-based learning and engagement with local employers (clean DMV driving record and proof of insurance needed) * Bachelor’s degree required with Master’s degree preferred * Demonstrated experience or willingness to learn how to manage and create departmental budget under supervision of the Executive Director (or Board designee) * Teaching credential not required, although proven teaching skills essential * Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
* CPR certification (current valid certification or willingness to obtain certification asap) * Proof of Covid 19 Vaccination when required by a health order or the Board of Directors *Beacons, Inc.
