Location/Division Specific Information This Project Management Position is part of the Clinical Next Generation Sequencing Division (CSD) which supplies “sample to answer” instrument, software and reagent solutions; has the leading position in research markets; and is the market leader in targeted sequencing and clinical Next- Generation Sequencing.
How will you make an impact? This role is charged with the management and execution of New Product Development Projects within the Clinical Next Generation Sequencing Division of Thermo Fisher.
To ensure delivery of on time product launches, the candidate should be proficient in industry standard project management processes, tools, and strategies.
The Project Manager will coordinate cross functionally with R&D, Product Management, Marketing, Finance, Planning, QA/QC, Tech Transfer, Engineering, and the Divisional Leadership team to ensure robust processes are implemented and followed in manufacturing, including crafting of accurate requirements, batch records, specifications and associated documents.
Projects will include New Product Introduction (NPI) and Sustaining efforts, in accordance with company product commercialization process guidelines and documentation, manufacturing transfer(s) across internal sites, sustaining, OEM, and process improvement.
In order to enable success, the candidate should be proficient in leading teams without direct management authority and demonstrate leadership through influence.
What will you do? Lead Operations/Manufacturing aspects of project management activities for new product development and sustaining project efforts, ensuring key requirements and milestones are met, utilizing thorough risk management practices, continuous improvement tools and prioritization of resources.
Recognize and escalate gaps, challenges and inefficiencies that may disrupt that success of a project as appropriate.
Follow Project Management Framework and corporate processes to execute projects ensuring compliance with all deliverables and stage gate reviews.
Deliver the assigned projects to successful conclusion (on time, on budget, and in scope) Identify program risks, assess impact, and execute subsequent mitigation plans.
Utilize best practices and tools for project execution and management.
How will you get here? Education: Minimum required education: Bachelor’s Degree in Scientific/Business Related Field.
Experience: 5+ years of Project Management experience, preferably in an operations-focused environment 2+ years experience utilizing project management software tools (MS Project, Miro, Jira) Must have comprehensive understanding of Document Control Practices (Agile or Equivalent) Prior experience leading FMEA and associated Risk Analysis a plus Experience working in an IVD/Medical Device/Biotech/Food industry a plus Six-Sigma/PMP/CPIM certification a plus Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, driving that momentum to Project Teams.
Ability to drive programs through influence and negotiation across business functions Ability to coach and mentor others as required to ensure on time delivery of Project Milestones Ability to effectively manage teams through indirect leadership, conflict resolution, and problem solving techniques Excellent verbal and written communication skills The ability to interact professionally with a diverse group: executives, managers, and subject matter experts Ability to travel up to 25%.
