Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician to work under the supervision and direction of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
You will perform tests or examinations classified as waived or of moderate complexity under CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments).
The Medical Laboratory Technician may perform moderate complexity testing to include microscopic urinalysis, blood typing of moderate complexity, such as automated ABO/Rh testing and antibody screen testing; and blood smear reviews, except for manual leukocyte differentials.
Additionally, the Medical Laboratory Technician is not allowed to perform other moderate complexity microscopic analysis or immunohematology procedures, and any tests or examinations classified as high complexity under CLIA.
Responsibilities:
Complete routine testing within 24 hours, and complete stat testing within 30 minutes.
Complete all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards.
Ensure detailed recordkeeping of all tests performed and reporting laboratory findings to all persons authorized to receive such information.
Complete proficiency testing and remedial actions in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas.
Ensure effective quality control measures are maintained and adheres to lab policies and procedures.
Ensure the safe and appropriate storage and transportation of specimens and cultures according to the Lab Procedures Manual.
Follow laboratory safety per FHCSD chemical hygiene plan.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
Troubleshoot testing to include identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
Notify technical supervisor and providers, and offer alternatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Current California Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) licensure.
Required education for California MLT licensure.
0 – 4 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) required.
Sufficient technical knowledge and skills to function successfully as a MLT.
Must meet organizational driving requirements.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience.
In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role.
Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
