DESCRIPTION UCSD Health's Central Sterile department in our East Campus is involved in the service within the medical center or health system, in which medical / surgical supplies and equipment are cleaned, prepared, processed, stored and issued for patient care.
Involves specialized expertise and direct responsibility for providing clean and sterile medical / surgical supplies and equipment to the operating rooms and patient care areas.
Typically includes decontamination, assembly and packaging, sterile storage and distribution.
The Assistant Manager for Central Sterile will provide direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees.
Functions as advisor to unit and administration.
Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.
g.
, fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge.
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.
They will also oversee first-line Central Sterile supervisors or leads and may also supervise sterile processing technicians and other support staff in conjunction with subordinate supervisors / leads, assesses staff competencies and establishes improvements to workflows.
They will actively promote staff development, work with management to meet budget targets, continually seeks operational improvements and revenue enhancements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience /training.
Five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, assign work, manage complex workflow and competing priorities.
PRFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Central Service Technician certification awarded by a NCCA accredited organization (e.
g.
IAHCSMM, CBSPD) preferred.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $74,300 - $134,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $35.
