*Job Summary: *
As a banquet captain, you may train banquet staff, coordinate drink and beverage service, and oversee the setup and cleanup of the event.
Your responsibilities will likely vary depending on the event, but you may delegate various duties to your staff while focusing on high-quality service and sanitation.
The Banquet Captain is a valuable contributor to our successful banquets and catering events operation and is accountable for the quality and consistency of all events.
*Essential Duties/Responsibilities:*
· Works with Event Sales Director on a daily basis with current events.
· Responsible for leading the service team in the execution of private and campus events.
· Holds pre-function meetings with servers to ensure smooth, efficient service, assigns server stations and coordinates the timing of courses with the kitchen personnel.
· Ensure that all banquet staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform (including name tag) before clocking in.
· Consistently checks Diagrams for buffet tables, guest table and other function room set-up needs for special events, and Ala Carte dining.
· Assures proper inventory of all banquet service equipment and supplies to meet required needs.
· Regularly inspects all front and back of the house service areas and equipment to assure that sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards for the department are met.
· Develop on-going training for all front-of-house service employees.
· Performs as Lead Waiter at special, private functions as needed.
· Meet and greet guests upon arrival and make contact with the host of the event.
· Trains, supervises and evaluates font of house service staff.
· Assures that all functions are properly staffed in accordance with the event.
· Assures the neatness, cleanliness and safety of all dining areas.
· Participates in weekly meetings.
· Assumes Opening or Closing Manager responsibilities when assigned.
· Conducts post-event evaluations to improve quality and efficiency of all front of house functions
· Responsible for ensuring staff are aware and ready to execute daily assignments and side work to be completed in their respective areas, and maintain orderly/organized work areas, consistently sanitary work areas, refill/stock containers and supplies, etc.
· Notify the Banquet Chef and the Event Sales Director of guest complaints at the time they occur.
Rectify, practice service recovery, any complaints as soon as possible
*Job Requirements:*
· Able to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail
· Have the ability to handle more than one task at a time.
· Must have demonstrated good supervisory skills.
· Have good communication and promotional skills.
· Have strong teaching and motivational skills.
· 3 - 5yrs experience in the food & beverage industry, ideally in banquets or a catering environment.
· 1 - 3yrs supervisory experience
· High School Diploma
· Certification/License
· Creative and innovative culinary skills.
· 3-5 years of Banquet/Catering and Events experience.
· Minimum 3 years of experience in managerial role within an upscale food and beverage operation.
· Ability to be present at work for assigned schedule including, nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours when required.

· FSP Certified
· ASAP Certified
· Ability to focus attention on guest needs.
