Position Summary: The Clinical Educator facilitates the enhancement of nursing cognitive skills and competency for assigned areas.
The clinical educator works collaboratively with the management team to maximize patient outcomes and clinical practice.
This individual functions as an educator, leader, expert practitioner, mentor and consultant for nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Supports the mission and values of the Medical Center, and acts as a role model relative to the Medical Center’s Service Excellence Initiative.
Major Position Responsibilities: The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner.

Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
Provides clinical education to staff.
Coordinates all new hire orientation and staff development.
Functions as an expert practitioner, mentor and consultant for nurses and other disciplines.
Participates on committees and task forces representing clinical area.
Promotes evidence based practice in the clinical setting.
Ensures all staff competencies are complete.
Attends leadership meetings and completes assignments in a timely manner.
Promotes patient, physician, and staff satisfaction.
Promotes and monitors safety, infection control and performance standards in clinical area.
Qualifications: Two (2) years of related clinical experience, preferred.
Two (2) years teaching or education position, preferred.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), required.
Excellent organizational skills, required.
Proficient computer skills required.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and willingness to learn other software packages as needed, required.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, required.
Master’s Degree in a related field, preferred.
A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Licenses: Current California Nursing License, required Certifications: Current BLS required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
Current ACLS, required (ED, ICU & Surgical services OR/PACU/PREOP only); American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.

Board certification, preferred (ED & ICU only).
CNOR, required (Surgery only).
CPAN, required within 6 months (PACU only).
If CCRN upon hire or transfer, CPAN required within 6 months.
NVCI within 90 days of hire or transfer, required (ED, BHU & OP only).
PALS within 90 days of hire or transfer, required (ED only).
Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.
