Medical Acute 2 South provides comprehensive care to a variety of medical and telemetry patients.
As Registered Nurse on 2 South, you will join a team of highly engaged nurses who provide exceptional patient care in a compassionate, welcoming environment.

We invite you to join Medical Acute 2 South, a 32 bed unit where you will provide primary care to patients dealing with cardiac, pulmonary, diabetic, neurologic, cognitive orthopedic, CIWA, psychiatric issues; observed progress and update patient charts.
You will observe and monitor patient lab work for trends and report abnormal lab tests to the appropriate physician and utilize clinical data to implement appropriate interventions.
Administer blood and blood product transfusions and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
Prepare and administer oral, rectal, NG/PEG tubes, SUBQ, IM, IV, PICC medications following SOPs and physician orders and parameters.
Care for patients with conditions such as: chest pains, arrhythmias, CVA, MI, post-infarct and recognize heart rhythms such as A-fib, heart blocks, V-tach/fib and administer medications to manage irregular cardiac rhythms.
Deliver appropriate dose and monitoring of titratable drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone and Cardizem.
Receive patients from cath lab, perform appropriate assessment for vital signs, affected limb, insertion site, & restriction in activity immediately after procedure.
Use the NIHSS clinical stroke assessment tool to evaluate and document neurological status in acute stroke patients.
Continuous frequent monitoring and consecutive neuro checks while utilizing clinical knowledge for change of status and physician notification.
Utilize appropriate medical and pharmacological interventions to relive and minimize effects of stroke symptoms and deficits.
Provide patient education regarding necessary lifestyle changes, physical limitations, adaptation, pharmacological intervention and prophylaxis regarding stroke outcomes and deficits.
You will work collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
This is a Full Time 12 Hour Night Shift, position located at Scripps Memorial Encinitas.
Position is eligible for New Hire Retention Incentive up to $7K.

Required Qualifications:
Current CA RN License
One (1) year of recent RN experience
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors
Preferred Qualifications:
ACLS Certification
Recent RN experience in an acute care setting
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Epic EHR experience
