DESCRIPTION Under general supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Burn Technician provides basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living for all patients, infants through seniors.
Participates in burn wound care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Assists with patient mobility as needed with burn wound care.
Assists with vital signs, patient ROM, wound care, and key activities in the surgical scrub role.
Collects patient data, prioritizes wound care schedule, and transports laboratory specimens.
Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies.
Manages the inventory of surgical instruments and supplies.
Participates in multi-disciplinary rounds providing up to date wound care information.
Obtain wound care photo documentation and updates to Epic.
Promotes patient education through discharge teaching and wound care techniques.
Participates in shared governance, training and evaluation of peers, performance improvement, and unit committee(s) work.
Assumes responsibility for self-scheduling.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Three (3) years of experience in a hospital or comparable environment.
Thorough knowledge of wound healing and burn rehabilitation goals.
Demonstrates knowledge of burn crisis intervention.
Proven initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous patient care experience in acute care Burn, ICU, Trauma, or ED.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week per 4-week schedule.
Must be available 1 weekend shift per 4-week schedule and a minimum of 1 holiday.
This is subject to change based on individual department needs.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $66,879 - $66,879 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $32.
