We invite you to join our Part-time Faculty in the Department of Arts and Humanities, American Sign Language.
To teach in our program, you must have a terminal or advanced degree in a related field.
We are searching for instructors who can teach introductory and intermediate courses in American Sign Language.
Our ASL courses keep voice and written communication to a minimum.
Deaf cultural studies are also thematic components throughout each course.
Note: This Part-time Faculty position will be teaching 4-week hybrid (online and onsite) courses in San Diego.
Essential Job Duties: Lead classroom sessions on-site and/or online according to university policies Provide expertise in assigned content area by maintaining current knowledge in the field Respond to student needs in a timely fashion or typically within 48 hours Provide substantive feedback to students, grade assignments, and post grades Participate in online class discussion boards Emphasize student-centered learning by promoting student inquiries and encouraging participation in their own learning Maintain a positive, safe, student-centric learning environment Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, or a related field, from a regionally accredited university Fluency in ASL with a minimum of 5 years’ experience of intensive language study and immersion in ASL At least 2 years’ experience teaching ASL to adults Knowledge of Deaf Culture and Audism Experience teaching ASL online Experience working with videoconferencing and web-based tool Must reside and be eligible to work in the United States Materials Needed for Submission: Resume / Curriculum Vitae Unofficial Transcripts Cover Letter highly preferred If selected, candidates with international degrees may be required to submit translation/degree evaluation from one of our approved agencies.
Compensation Range: Hourly: $25.
85 - $25.
85 Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.
Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position.
