Job Title: Library Technician

JOB SUMMARY
Grant funded position for 12 months.
Report directly to library manager and assist with daily tasks of a small rural library primarily in collection and catalog management and program development.
TYPICAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Primary duties:
· Catalog and maintain the library material and collection.
· Stay up to date on library best practices and policy.
· Process print and non-print library materials to prepare them for inclusion in library collections.
· Use and maintain computer library database to help locate library materials.
· Familiarity with Resource Description and Access (RDA), Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR), Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC) and newer metadata standards, follow library standards and guidelines when classifying documents.
· Ensure all material can be retrieved conveniently using standardized methods.
· Perform original and copy cataloging and adapt on-line records according to guidelines in all subject areas and languages.
· Teach on how to use the library resources and develop, organize, implement, or assist library events and programs for all ages.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor's preferred.
Documented library experience is accepted in lieu of education.
· Catalog training and experience a must.
