Cristo Rey San Diego seeks a mission-driven, innovative, collaborative, student focused, and community-centered *Assistant Principal of Instruction & Curriculum* to serve as one of the formational leaders at Cristo Rey San Diego.
Assistant Principal of School Instruction & Curriculum reports directly to the school’s Principal and serves as a critical member of the school’s academic administrative team.

The Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum is responsible for ensuring the continued growth of our teaching staff, mentoring and coaching new and returning faculty members, and that our instructional and grading practices ensure equity and break down barriers typical for students of our population.
In addition, the Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum helps to guarantee that our classroom learning aligns with State and Network standards and benchmarks, that the resources utilized are offering chances for deeper Depth of Knowledge critical thinking skills while also infusing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills into classroom instruction, and that Cristo Rey San Diego students graduate with the necessary skills to succeed in college and beyond.
The Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum helps to create and sustain a culture of high expectations and continual support for all teachers and students, as well as promoting and enforcing a school environment that is professional and respectful of others.
The Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum is a member of the administrative team.
*School Leadership and Administration Roles and Responsibilities:* ● As a member of the Instructional Leadership Team set clear expectations and standards for academic success.
● Be a regular presence in classrooms, informally observing and following-up with teachers and students in order to support a positive learning environment, engaging learning opportunities, and high expectations for student work and outcomes.
● Promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude, and establish an environment that supports social, emotional, and academic development in students.
● Growth-mindset leadership, advocacy, and responsibility for consistent implementation of school wide culture and academic goals for teachers and students.
● Collaborate with academic staff (content leads, grade level leads, AP of school culture, AP of school academics) to support sharing of best practices and cultivate an academic growth and results-oriented culture.
● Participate in other roles related to being a part of the school community, including attending campus ministry retreats, supporting work study initiatives, and leading student clubs.
● Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the Cristo Rey Network End of Year Assessments, Skyrocket Framework, and data analysis.
● Co-lead summer professional development programs for all teachers.
● Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of highly effective teachers and staff.
● Provide ongoing professional development aligned to best practices and schoolwide needs.
● Collect/share data on schoolwide trends.
● Collaborate with the administrative team and the admissions team to ensure successful new student orientations.
● Supervise the daily arrival and departure of students in order to ensure student safety.
● Contribute to future strategic planning processes for the school and updates to any school wide plans, such as MER and WCEA.
● Act as part of the leadership team for any future accreditation processes that may be undertaken.
● Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

● Analyze instruction and assessment data in order to inform academic decisions, professional development, and teacher coaching to meet students’ needs and academic goals ● Prepare for and conduct weekly observations and coaching one-on-ones for six teachers per quarter to ensure the implementation of rigorous, engaging, high-impact, college preparatory lessons that accelerate student academic growth and differentiate for the needs of individual students ● Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement and provide feedback to teachers through instructional coaching ● Support teachers by helping with the ―strategic how of teaching -- share multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times.
Informally observe lessons and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success ● Lead Content Team Leads in building routines to promote a culture of continuous improvement ● Collaborate with academic staff in the planning of professional development to invest in teacher growth and ensure best instruction and assessment practices across all classrooms ● Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs ● Collaborate with the Student Success Team on teacher implementation of student intervention systems of support/challenge ● Assist the Assistant Principal of Academics and NWEA MAP testing initiatives and data analysis ● Collaborate in the development of systems to celebrate teacher growth and success ● Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc.
