Job Description: Would you like to help create a fun and exciting summer camp experience? Come spend the summer outside with the Girl Scouts San Diego summer camp team! Join us for this unique and fulfilling opportunity as Camper Advocate.
Girl Scouts San Diego (GSSD) believes in encouraging campers to step out of their comfort zones and explore the great outdoors.
Being a camper advocate is more than listening, it's being a part of the team creating an inclusive and welcoming camp experience for everyone, while simultaneously making unforgettable memories and a long-lasting, positive impact on campers' lives! Where you will work: Camp Winacka - A traditional rustic camp with spectacular views.
The camp features a pool, miles of hiking trails, green building including a new environmental center and two lakes.
Campers choose from programs focusing on aquatics, horses, arts and adventure.
Campers and staff sleep in open-air cabins with built-in bunk beds, in platform tents with bunk beds or on cots under the stars.
Your contributions: As camper advocate, you will assist in the daily programs and camp activities at Camp Winacka.

H (Mental, Emotional, and Social Health) practices, you will help identify different strategies to ensure campers feel a sense of belonging while at camp.
Your contributions will include: Providing effective behavior and camper management counseling by identifying needs and supporting campers and staff.
Actively participate in the direction, supervision and organization of campers during activities, and throughout camp.
Working with unit staff, administrative team, and camper guardians as needed to develop individualized camper support plans to contribute to the successful camper experience.
Helping plan and execute activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities.
Maintaining high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
Compensation: $96 - $108/daily rate.

Your background and experience: Must be at least 21 years of age BA/BS degree OR equivalent work experience in the field of child development, social work, or related field Prior experience utilizing M.

H theory and methodologies, preferably in a youth environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work in a team setting with diverse staff, volunteers, and campers and communicate clearly and effectively.
Excellent time management skills to plan, prioritize and ensure tasks are in a complete timely manner.
Ability to creatively solve problems and successfully resolve conflict in a professional manner.
High level of professionalism and integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality of information and data.
Must be able to obtain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification by the first day of camp.
Valid drivers' license, proof of insurance, and/or access to reliable transportation.
Daily and/or occasional travel may be required.
Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and Girl Scouts San Diego mission, vision and values.
This seasonal summer position starts June 11, 2024 and ends August 10.
