POSITION: Media Arts Educator (Elementary, Middle and High School) LOCATION: Central, South, East and North San Diego REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Education & Programs Outside the Lens seeks a Media Arts Educator with experience teaching photography.

For over 20 years, OTL has brought arts-integrated programming to over 23,500 students in weekly classes, after-school programs, summer sessions, workshops, and teacher training.

*Position Summary* The Media Arts Educator (MAE) for OTL collaborates with their team and program partners to develop and deliver innovative curriculum to youth of all ages throughout San Diego County.
The Media Arts Educator creates a learning environment centered around Restorative Practices, Trauma Informed Practices, culturally responsive teaching and social-emotional learning.
The MAE creates projects integrated into the core curriculum that support the development of digital media skills, digital literacy and social-emotional learning while also meeting the varying interests and needs of their students.

This position may require work outside of business hours, including evenings and weekends.
This position requires being on site in the office and the ability to get to various locations in San Diego County.
*Duties & Responsibilities* Program Implementation (80%) * Responsible for implementation of programs.
* Communicates with classroom teachers before, during and after program implementation creating a space for input and feedback.
* Incorporates best practices in teaching and learning, utilizing a variety of effective instructional techniques.
* Coordinates and produces final exhibitions and other student presentations such as portfolios.
* Attends other staff members exhibitions and events.
Program Development (15%) * Responsible for planning and development of programs.
* Supports in promotion of other OTL teammates’ programs and events.
* Keeps up to date with current happenings in Media Arts, attending professional development opportunities and sharing knowledge with the team.
* Creates projects with corresponding lesson plans and detailed curriculum maps ensuring alignment with program outcomes, OTL methodology and the OTL JEDI framework.
* Utilizes and implements OTL assessments for planning and instruction.
* Develops lessons and projects that meet program outcomes and varying interests and needs of their students.
* Meets regularly with teams and co-develops roles and responsibilities within teams.
Program Administration (5%) * Implements each program's pre and post-evaluation (mid-eval when applicable), ensuring program outcomes are being met.
* Submits digital deliverables and program data at the culmination of each program.
*Skills and Abilities* * Demonstrates instructional and engagement strategies within a teaching setting that align with OTL pedagogy * Documents all aspects of program planning, implementation and reconciliation * Completes tasks and projects with a high level of quality and attention to detail * Strong organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines * Utilizes program evaluations for planning and instruction * Proactive planner with ability to prioritize multiple projects * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Collaborative, team player, responsive to changing needs of students, team and organization *Qualifications* * 3+ years experience with digital media arts.
* Experience teaching youth or adults.
* Strong ability to mentor youth.
* Experience successfully working in teams.
* Ability to meet program outcomes and program deliverables.
* Experience successfully meeting goals.
* Ability to work on site and to drive to various locations.
Preferred Experience * One to three years of experience teaching media to youth, adults, or educators.
* Experience working with justice connected youth.
* Understanding of current teaching practices, methodologies, curriculum design, and classroom management.
* Experience with Restorative Practices, Trauma Informed Practices, culturally responsive teaching, social-emotional learning, project based learning, arts integration and working with youth with a variety of learning needs.
