*JOB DESCRIPTION – One-on-One Instructional Aide*
*POSITION SUMMARY*
*Helps meet physical and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom.
Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP), including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs.
Work under general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified education specialist.
* * *Classification: Part Time or Full Time, hourly* * *Reports to: CEO/Principal and Education Specialist* *DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* *The following job duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position, in addition to any duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time:* *Instructional Support* * *Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
* * *Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
* * *Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
* * *Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
* * *Assist in implementing Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goals* * *Effectively communicate and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
* * *Assist in collecting academic and behavior data as needed for the purpose of programming and instructional planning.
* *Student Management* * *Help meet the individual needs of students.
* * *Help manage the behavior of assigned students.
This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
* * *Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
* * *Assist assigned students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
* * *Assist in supervision of play and lunch activities, bus loading and unloading when needed.
* * *Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of assigned students.

* * *Participate in professional development programs, staff meetings, and special events as assigned.
* * *Utilize technology as appropriate to the position.
* * *Perform other related duties as assigned* *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES* * *Ability to work with children with disabilities* * *Ability to follow verbal and written instructions* * *Ability to communicate effectively* * *Preferred one year working with children in a special educational setting or child care setting* *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* * *Minimum High school diploma or GED* * *48 semester units (official transcripts) and a passing score of the Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) within 60 days of hiring* * *If you have a B.

you do not need the CAPE test* * *Department of Justice fingerprint clearance* * *Proof of Negative TB test within the last four years* * *CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days of hiring* *PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS* *Must be able to hear, speak and see, and possess cognitive and physical abilities necessary to: exchange information; utilize a computer; read, prepare, and proofread written materials; and provide instruction.
Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Must have dexterity of hands and fingers needed to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
May have occasional exposure to irate parents, staff, and public and private representatives.
The position occasionally kneels, bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information, and lifts and carries objects that typically weigh less than 20 pounds.
