DESCRIPTION The Library envisions a future where our organization makes "information accessible in order to inspire innovation, foster critical inquiry and advocate for social justice.
" To support this vision, the Payroll Assistant supports the payroll process for students, staff and librarians.
The Payroll Assistant also supports student employment activities from onboarding to separation.
The incumbent coordinates with Library supervisors and leadership and campus partners to support an environment where the diverse cultures of our faculty and staff are celebrated.
Responsible for independently processing monthly (staff/academics) and bi-weekly (student employees) payroll for a large department with an annual payroll of 14.

Process UCPath transactions including new hire and separation bundles, salary/title changes, leaves, and fund changes.
Process and review monthly and bi-weekly timekeeping; monitor and report leave usage and accruals; and calculate service credits.
Research and resolve payroll and timekeeping discrepancies.
Maintain databases, personnel files, and audit records.
Serve as advisor to employees and supervisors with all payroll-related forms, policies and procedures.
Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required to meet payroll deadlines.
This position is hybrid remote and requires flexibility to work onsite at the WongAvery Library as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience with payroll and timekeeping processes; including leave and overtime reporting.
Experience with payroll software tools (i.
e.
Ecotime).
Experience creating reports for various uses and gathering statistical data.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel to develop and manipulate reports for auditing purposes.
Excellent interpersonal skills to establish cooperative working relationships with a diverse population that includes academics, staff, students and public.
Experience working effectively with diverse teams.
Experience evaluating, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures relevant to payroll and human resources, including collective bargaining agreements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to analyze complex situations, troubleshoot, and develop/recommend solutions.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $40,700 - $81,850 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $19.
