The Senior Tax Analyst will perform direct and indirect tax compliance and accounting functions using Federal, State and Local tax laws and regulations and the Company’s policies and procedures.
Your Impact:
Lead and manage the indirect tax compliance and reporting, including working directly with third party providers to prepare and file, sales and use tax returns
Prepare and/or review reconciliations of sales and use tax general ledger accounts and related SOX documentation
Manage product taxability configurations and system enablement including nexus settings, product mappings, and enterprise application processes and enhancements to ensure updates and changes are properly updated and documented
Prepare analysis and responses for indirect tax controversies including all audits, notices and VDAs
Coordinate and communicate with taxing authorities to resolve notices and assessments
Research and prepare required work papers and technical memos related to sales and use tax issues
Provide indirect tax support to the business including customer inquiries, invoice and taxability support, customer and vendor contract review and customer exemption certificate advice
Research and document the taxability of new company business products and new vendor contracts for potential sales and use tax exposure
Manage and document indirect tax risk, closely monitoring the dynamic landscape and assessing and implementing operational and compliance changes, as required
Manage tax compliance calendar and tax registrations, as well as other regulatory indirect tax returns and remittances
Assist with all aspects of income tax compliance including computation, preparation, and filing of Federal, State and Local income and franchise tax
Assist with the quarterly and year-end income tax provision computations, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and cash tax forecasts
Assist with income tax audits, tax technical research and special projects such as tax process automation and ERP implementation
Must have:
5-6 years of professional-level corporate or public accounting tax experience preparing direct and indirect tax returns.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus
Sales tax audit defense experience including working directly with auditors
Knowledge of sales tax law and the ability to apply the law to transactions and audit defense
Sales tax accounting experience
SAP or similar ERP system knowledge
Vertex and/or Avalara experience
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Experience managing and analyzing data
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage a diverse set of tasks
Demonstrated proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
Comfortable working independently on projects and driving results
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
