POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing various complex accounting activities related to leases and franchise revenue, including performing and reviewing account activity analysis, journal entries, and reconciliations, and responding to and resolving inquiries from internal and external customers.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs technical accounting analysis and summarizes key terms in accordance with ASC 842.
Partners with cross-functional departments in reviewing/analyzing executed lease and franchise documents; requires strong analytical skills and use of independent judgment.
Reviews lease and franchise agreements and determines proper accounting treatment is applied to each contract type, including: finance versus operating lease classification and any language within the agreements with financial implications.
Verifies that information is appropriately entered into the Lease Accounting system, including the appropriate calculation of lease liability and ROU asset in accordance with ASC 842.
Manages and maintains the Lease Accounting system (Lucernex).
Designs and creates reports to meet business needs and provides guidance to other members of the team regarding best practices and troubleshooting.
Works with the System Administrator to maintain a current and accurate listing of ongoing system issues and projects.
Aides in compilation and/or preparation of multiple 10-K and 10-Q schedules, provides data assumptions used for budgeting purposes, and other analysis
Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations related to moderately complex accounts.
Works crossfunctionally with outside departments to determine appropriate assumptions are being used.
Identifies and researches variances, initiates corrections/adjustments.
Coordinates, organizes, and performs data assumptions and accounting for budgeting and forecasting related to uncomplicated lease and franchise accounting GL accounts.
Participate in ad-hoc projects related to Lease or Franchise Accounting that may have a financial impact to the company.
Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience 4+ years of related accounting or financial analysis experience.
Lease Accounting experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities - Strong knowledge of accounting/financial concepts and techniques.
Solid mainframe and personal computer skills, including proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
Excellent oral and written English communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with Lucernex Retail is a plus.
Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.
Physical Requirements - Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone, ability to type on a computer keyboard and operate a 10-key by touch.

The range for this position is $70,100 - $99,900 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego.
If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
