The ideal candidate will be someone who has previous experience in payroll and is looking to join a highly motivated team that will be communicating with employees and management across the organization.
There will be growth opportunities within the department and organization and will be partnering closely with Scripps Human Resources.
As payroll coordinator at Scripps Health, you will be responsible for: Producing and distributing timely and accurate paychecks and payroll information in compliance with company policy and government regulation.
Performing all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing tax and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing reports for management.
Providing a high level of service to all Scripps employees.
This position will be working five 8 hour day shifts per week (80 hours per pay period).
Must have availability Monday-Friday for training.
Located at Scripps Corporate Offices in La Jolla, CA.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: Experience with computerized accounting systems and complex pay policies.
Personal computer skills is required.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, with emphasis on Excel is required.
Ability to maintain privileged and sensitive information confidential.
High level of personal accountability for accuracy, attention to detail, and completion of work assignments.
Capacity to work under conditions of constant change, deadlines, and scrutiny.
Experience in a multi-institutional setting is desirable.
Ability to successfully interact with employees and outside agencies.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is necessary.
A high school diploma is required.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: A minimum of two years payroll experience is desired.
Familiarity and understanding of federal and state wage and labor law is preferred.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Accounting related course work is beneficial.
Experience with Lawson ERP is desired.
Payroll certificate desired.
