Future SDAIHC – San Diego American Indian Health Center The grant accountant will serve in advancing the San Diego American Indian Health Center Grant requirements by reading and understanding the notice of award (NOA) of various grants and provide reporting to department leaders by performing grant budget allocations monthly and preparing and submitting invoices and reports to granting agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Accomplishes compliance work requirements by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, guiding employees with regard to grants and projects.
Allocates the time spent on a particular grant to the employee’s schedule and timesheet for proper expense recognition and to ensure compliance.
Ensures compliance with regulations and controls by examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation; recommending opportunities to strengthen the structure for grant/project management and reporting.
Provides management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing grant and project information.
Plans, organizes, and coordinates the centralized accounting and financial reporting for assigned grant portfolios, including preparing annual and project budgets, forecasting revenue, estimating carryover funds from one year to the next.
Research issues, prepares invoices/billings and collects funds for the support of restricted fund expenditures.
Coordinates with Key personnel at all levels of the organization to support proper and timely expenditure of grant funds in compliance with applicable guidelines and budget deadlines.
Develops positive working relationships to foster a collaborative environment for grant coordination and oversight.
Maintain subject matter expertise regarding regulations and compliance requirements by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
Identification of potential risk, assessment, planning, reporting and monitoring Responsible for all reporting requirements as assigned.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience.
Preferred: Experience serving a multinational, multicultural population.
Business in Accounting degree preferred.
Special Conditions of Employment: Has a clean driving record and insurance as required by the state.
Has reliable transportation.

Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite or related programs.
Ability to learn other accounting software systems.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Able to lift/move up to 40 pounds, move from place to place.
Able to sit at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods.
Able to stand, bend and reach for prolonged periods.
Ability to do math, organize and prioritize workload, work effectively and efficiently under stress.
Ability to supervise, multitask, understand, and follow instructions.
Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, and understand English.

Immediately reports unsafe working conditions.
Privacy/Compliance: Maintains privacy and security of all patients, employee, and volunteer information and access to such information.
Such information is accessed on a need-to-know basis for business purposes only.
Complies with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations.
Reports on unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity.
Upholds strict ethical standards.
Flexibility: Available for all shifts and, when required, able to work evenings and weekends.
