Your role as a Staff Accountant: The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for managing the full accounts receivable process, corporate contracts, as well as maintaining corresponding general ledger accounts for both internal and external reporting.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with: Exemplifying our Padres Core Values/Mission Statement: Communication and Collaboration, Progress and Innovation, Accountability and Integrity, and Effort and Results, through building meaningful connections with a diverse fan base and serving as impactful leaders in the San Diego community Responsible for invoicing all receivables for the San Diego Padres, as well as for the Padres Foundation Reconciles accounts and keeps management informed of the status of outstanding receivables through weekly status reports, or as requested Manages corporate documents including contracts and leases Verifies contracts, customer activity and transactions Partners with internal departments to ensure professionalism and high customer service Proactively communicates with customers regarding outstanding balances Prepares and sends customer statements Responsible for recording revenues derived from media, parking, and other sources Tracks trade balances and ensures transactions are recorded at fair value Reconciles payroll receivables and submits deduction schedule to the payroll department in a timely manner Analyzes general ledger accounts for completeness, discrepancies, and necessary adjustments Ensures compliance with GAAP, MLB, and third-party reporting requirements Prepares journal entries, accruals, general ledger imports, account schedules, and other related accounting tasks Prepares third-party owners’ association budget and sends monthly financial reports to owners Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most: Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.
, and ability to learn and master new software programs Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manne Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus You will be required to meet the following: Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment Minimum 4-year bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent field Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and LOOKUP formulas Able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, evenings, and overtime as needed Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark, as needed; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check Pay and additional compensation: Per the California pay transparency law, the base hourly range for this full-time position is $26.
44 to $29.
81 ($55,000 to $62,000 annualized).
Eligible overtime, as applicable.
As a candidate for this position, your pay and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
