IT Operations Manager San Diego, CA or Remote Position Description: Empirico, a biotechnology company that combines unmatched expertise in human genetics-driven target discovery with world-class capabilities in siRNA drug discovery, is looking for an IT Operations Manager who will play a critical role in overseeing and managing our IT operations, including vendor management, network security, IT strategy, budget management and helpdesk responsibilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated IT professional to be a vital member of a team of experts dedicated to identifying new disease targets and translating those insights into therapeutic programs.
Responsibilities: Your day-to-day responsibilities will include ensuring the efficient operation of our IT systems and providing essential support to our internal teams.
You will work closely with and direct our 3rd party IT service providers to strategically plan for and implement IT solutions.
You will also manage helpdesk operations, collaborating with our 3rd party IT service providers to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
You will be expected to: Vendor Management – Closely collaborate with 3rd party IT service providers and vendors to ensure efficient handling of installation, configuration, and modification requests for devices, tools and services Network Security – Lead efforts to implement and maintain robust network security measures to safeguard our organization’s data and resources.
Collaborate with 3rd party IT service providers to create secure on-site network infrastructure for office computers and network-enabled lab equipment.
Assess and implement both hardware and software tools to ensure the safety of our infrastructure.
Stay up to date on current cybersecurity threats and educate colleagues and develop policies on security best-practices Enterprise Backup Strategy – Develop, document, and implement data backup and restoration plans for employee laptops, lab machines, and data stored on various cloud platforms.
Regularly test backup restoration strategy to ensure frictionless recovery in the event of an incident IT Strategy – Develop and execute a strategic IT plan that aligns with the company’s growth and future IT needs.
Assess potential tools and vendors for future implementation, while identifying unnecessary tools and vendors for removal Helpdesk Management – Triage and manage support tickets, attempting to resolve issues within your expertise and bandwidth.
Escalate complex or time-consuming issues to our 3rd party IT service providers as needed.
Track and follow up on open issues to ensure timely resolution Documentation – Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT processes, procedures, and configurations Logistics – Work closely with our operations team to ensure timely delivery and installation of critical hardware and software Collaboration – Collaborate with internal teams to understand their IT needs and ensure efficient resolution of IT-related requests Compliance – Ensure that IT practices and infrastructure meet industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements Travel – Occasionally travel to our site in Madison, WI, to evaluate and support IT needs.
This will be on an as-needed basis, though it is not expected that this role will require travel more than once a quarter.
