*SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER COUNSELOR* *| Certified, Registered and/or Licensed*
*Position Overview*
The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor provides addiction treatment within the context of an adult men’s residential treatment home and program, though individual and group counseling and education, using a non-timebound framework and other evidence-based practices.
SUD Counselors are also responsible for conducting random drug testing with documentation.
*Line of Supervision*
The SUD Counselor reports to and performs job duties assigned by the Operations/Program Manager, who reports directly to the Executive Director.
SUD Counselors are also supervised by the Clinical / Program Director.
*Position Requirements*
* SUD registration / certification / or satisfactory progress towards, recognized by State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)
* Valid driver’s license and insurance
* Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing screenings
* Ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite and other necessary software
* Utmost degree of professional confidentiality (PHI)
* Ability to work within a team as well as independently
*Preferred*
* Familiarity with Drug-MediCal (DMC)
* Two years’ experience working with alcohol and drug related issues/addiction
* Experience working with high-risk adult men who may be on parole or probation
* Education in traumatic brain injury, and co-occurring disorders
*Position Duties*
* Attend to essentials of residential facility functioning
* Stay current on all requirements for professional certification
* Attend clinical and staff meetings, as directed by management
* Maintain client caseload, including intakes, treatment planning, referrals, and discharge planning
* Perform client drug testing
* Oversee client medication protocols
* Provide individual counseling, group facilitation, crisis intervention, prevention, and referrals
* Maintain thorough and accurate documentation, both hard copy and computerized
* Enforce rules of the facility and implement consequences when needed
*Hours and Compensation*
* *Full-time: 8 Hour Shift, Saturday-Wednesday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm*
